Convert your drive to NTFS, if it&#8217;s currently FAT32:<\/p>\n<p>Shut down any running programs. <br \/>Click Start, then choose Run. <br \/>In the box, enter cmd, which will bring up a black command-line window. You\u2019ll see a prompt that says something like \u201cC:WINDOWS\u201d with a blinking cursor. (If you\u2019ve ever used DOS, you\u2019ll recognize this.) <br \/>Enter the following: convert c: \/fs:ntfs (If your hard drive isn\u2019t drive C:, substitute the correct letter, and don\u2019t forget the space between the colon and the slash.) <br \/>When you press Enter, you\u2019ll probably see a message saying the conversion will take place next time you start Windows. So click Start, choose Shut Down, and choose Restart. Windows will convert your drive&#8211;and it will also reboot your computer twice. <\/p>\n<p>2. Use DMA (direct memory access):<\/p>\n<p>Go to your Control Panel and double-click System, then choose the Hardware tab. Click Device Manager. This will bring up a list of every type of hardware your computer has, from \u201cComputer\u201d to \u201cDisk Drives\u201d to \u201cMonitors,\u201d and more. <br \/>Click the plus sign next to \u201cIDE ATA\/ATAPI Controllers.\u201d <br \/>Double-click \u201cPrimary IDE Channel.\u201d (If you have two of them, don\u2019t worry. Just repeat this procedure.) <br \/>Click the Advanced Settings tab. You\u2019ll probably see two devices listed (0 and 1). <br \/>For each one, click the drop-down arrow next to Transfer Mode and choose \u201cDMA if available.\u201d Then click OK.
